Samurai Faith

When Matt did the Marcus Miller video back in January, he had no idea that it could turn into a no gig, quarantine series...

Here is Matt's college try and a tad slowed down take of Tetsuo Sakurai's "Samurai Faith" from the record "Gentle Hearts" with Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers during Maryland's Covid-19 Lockdown.

Transcribing and Programming Dennis Chambers was an experience to say the least. Hope you enjoy and wash your hands.

"Tetsuo Sakurai is the reason I play the 6 string bass, the reason I first bought a Yamaha, the reason I fell in love with Buckeye Burl basses, and the reason I dove into slap. When I was in college, one of my best friends, who was a drummer showed me this record and for the next year, it was all we played. Constantly pissing off the jazz band with our experimental time displacements. Classified Frequency, to this day still covers "Maximum" (same record) at every show and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. I got Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers, both to sign my CD and hopefully, one day I'll be able to get Tetsuo to sign one of my absolute favorite and inspirational records." - Matt
